General Motors Corp.'s GMC brand tapped Strategic Interactive Group, Boston, as its interactive agency of record without a review. McCann-Erickson Worldwide, Troy, Mich. was the incumbent. Strategic hadn't done any previous work for GMC, but the brand had "heard very good things about them," said Craig Norwood, interactive marketing manager for Pontiac-GMC Division. The shop is creating a new site for GMC's redesigned 1999 Sierra pickup, launching later this year. Pontiac's interactive AOR remains D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles, Troy, and is also national advertising agency. Separately, the division gave Bronner Slosberg Humphrey, Boston, the project of assessing Pontiac-GMC's below-the-line ad needs.
