The typical streaming media consumer is a 36-year-old white male who lives in the Midwest, has completed some college and earns $50,000 to $75,000 a year.

Sixty-seven percent of online users are familiar with streaming media, which includes audio and video. Men, 76%, are more familiar with streaming media than women, 58%.

Sixteen percent are active streaming media consumers, using it at least one hour in the previous 30 days. Men, 20%, are more likely to use streaming media than women, 12%.

The typical streaming media consumer uses the Internet at least eight hours a week and is more likely to use broadband technology. Today's lack of bandwidth is a frustration, however.
