Mr. Stringham, 48, who left as president-CEO of BBDO Canada, Toronto, last week, will relocate starting Dec. 8 to Y&R headquarters in New York, where he will oversee all U.S. and Canadian offices. The offices had been reporting to Ed Vick, worldwide chairman-CEO.
Mr. Stringham's first priority of business is to develop ways to coordinate operations across North America, Mr. Vick said. While the network has built its offices around the country, there are areas such as client support where offices can help each other and headquarters can help them all, he said.
The North American CEO position has been open since John McGarry became chairman-CEO of Y&R Advertising in 1994.
At BBDO Canada, Mr. Stringham will be replaced by Mike Fyshe, president of BBDO Canada's retail division.
BBDO also promoted Stephen Creet and Michael McLaughlin to co-chief creative officers from executive creative directors and expanded Lou Quattro's current position as exec VP-chief financial officer to include the duties of chief
