Sun surges ahead with interactive group

Sun Microsystems, signaling an aggressive move to make desktop video commonplace on office PCs, Oct. 10 launches a new Interactive Services Group. The division will market a line of computer servers priced from $30,000 to $300,000 that will be able to store large amounts of digitized video accessible from PCs over a company's local area network. Initial customers include NBC and Toshiba Corp. Sun also is targeting ad agencies to digitize their commercials archives.
