Super Bowl-theme sites score record traffic

The Super Bowl Web site from the National Football League and NBC charted more than 6 million hits on game day, the NFL said. The league has yet to translate that figure into actual users, however. ESPN's Web site, meanwhile, recorded 15 million hits from Jan. 26-29, translating to about 565,164 individual users.

The NFL site has recorded 28 million hits since it opened late last year. It will remain open in its present form for a few more weeks and then morph into a site promoting next year's game, Super Bowl XXXI.
