Super margarine hits market

Published on .

Raisio Tehtaat, a Helsinki, Finland-based food company, plans to market its cholesterol-busting margarine on a global scale. Raisio launched Benecol in Finland in February, marketing the margarine product as a food which, if consumed regularly, can reduce cholesterol levels. The success of Benecol has sent the company's shares rocketing on the Helsinki Stock Exchange. Raisio plans a pan-European launch for Benecol in the second half year. "Benecol has enormous sales potential internationally, and we have a product which is certain to move into the fast lane in coming months and years," says Project Manager Jukka Kaitaranta.
