Coca-Cola Co. is expanding distribution of Surge, its year-old rival to Pepsi-Cola's strong performing Mountain Dew, to New York and Los Angeles, among other markets this month and next. The brand is currently available in 60% of the country. Coca-Cola said in the first 10 months in launch markets the brand posted a 1.3% share of the carbonated soft- drink category in the combined channels of supermarkets, convenience and petroleum stores.
