Two SUVs rated unsafe

Published on .

Consumer Reports has rated sport utility vehicles Isuzu Trooper (1995 and '96 models) and Acura SLX (1996) as "not acceptable" because they "have too great a tendency to roll over in certain situations." Consumers Union, publisher of Consumer Reports, said it has asked the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to investigate design defects in the vehicles, and asked Isuzu and Acura to recall the vehicles and halt further sales. CR said the vehicles failed road tests involving sharp turns, such as in collision avoidance maneuvers.
