Sweden's axis puts holiday snaps on the Internet

Published on .

STOCKHOLM -- Swedish computer company Axis has developed a digital camera aimed at the mass holiday--maker market that allows users to send "postcards", with photos they have taken themselves, directly to friends or family on the Internet.

Users take photos on the camera and then process them through a laser scanner attached to a computer, whose software converts them into Internet versions of postcards.

A test marketing exercise is currently underway in the Stockholm area; in one month's time, Axis will collate the feedback and determine whether the camera needs any modifications and what price it should be.

Companies will be able to have special cameras produced so that their logo appears with the photos on their Internet messages.
