STOCKHOLM--The Stockholm-based Internet advertising and marketing consultancy firm Icon Medialab has signed a strategic alliance with the Swedish banking and insurance group S-E-Banken/Trygg Hansa. Under the arrangement, Icon becomes S-E-Banken/Trygg Hansa's main Internet development partner.

The agreement, which was said to be worth $1 million in 1999, comes just one week after Icon signed a similar pact with the Swedish lottery games organizer, Svenska Spel.

"The deal is very important for Icon, and puts us into a lead position as Sweden's leading partner for business development on the Internet," says Icon Managing Director Oscar Bjers.

With nearly 160,000 customers on the Internet, S-E-Banken is one of the leading Nordic banks on the Web and one of the world's most successful financial services companies using this medium.

The bank hopes to increase the number of its Internet customers to 800,000 within two years. Icon will handle all of S-E-Banken's and Trygg Hansa's advertising and marketing services and strategies on the Internet.
