AT&T gears up for local, wireless service

Published on .

AT&T confirmed its intentions to offer local, long-distance and wireless communications services--a message to the congressional conference committee as it meets to reconcile the House and Senate versions of the telecommunications reform bill. Although AT&T has been testing local service in Rochester, N.Y., the marketer is seeking permission to offer bundled services in Connecticut, California, Chicago and Grand Rapids, Mich. "Most likely we'll be launching an advertising campaign post-holidays that will reposition AT&T as more than a long-distance company," said a company spokesman.
