AT&T and Hewlett-Packard announce e-commerce alliance

AT&T Corp. and Hewlett-Packard Co. on Monday finalized a plan to foster electronic commerce over the Internet through electronic storefronts, intranets and extranets. As part of the agreement, AT&T and HP will work together in three areas: to develop technology for secure Web site transactions, HP's resellers will start selling AT&T's Web site services and the companies will jointly develop technologies to improve Internet- and extranet-based services.
