AT&T Wireless, New York, is launching a national one-rate wireless service plan, AT&T Digital One Rate, that gives customers a single rate for incoming and outgoing calls. The plan also eliminates roaming and long-distance charges. Until now, wireless companies have sold calling plans with monthly access charges plus extras such as roaming fees for outside of home geographic areas. AT&T Digital One Rate will have three flat-rate plan: 600 minutes for $89.99; 1,000 minutes for $119.99; and 1,400 minutes for $149.99. Additional minutes will be billed at a flat 25 cents per minute. AT&T also cut a deal with Nokia for exclusive rights to the Nokia 6162 digital phone, which is compatible with the new national service plan. Ads from Foote, Cone & Belding, New York, support.
