General Motors Corp.'s Oldsmobile Division, Lansing, Mich., on Oct. 16 announced it hired Randall Tallerico as director of advertising and sales promotion. He had been a senior partner and international VP at J. Walter Thompson USA, Detroit, where he worked on Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and Domino's Pizza. Mr. Tallerico joined JWT
in 1979 and also worked at its offices in New York, Chicago, Bangkok, Sydney, Paris and London. The Michigan native and 1974 graduate of the University of Michigan succeeds Mike Sands, who left in April to join Giant Step, Chicago. Oldsmobile spent $330 million in measured media last year but only $92 million in the first half of 2000, according to Competitive Media Reporting. Earlier this month, Oldsmobile started an aggressive incentive program offering no down payment, no interest and no payments for a year on 2000 and '01 models.
