Target Corp. launched a redesign of its flagship Web site, target.com
, including a new look, more guest-friendly navigation and selection tools, as well as a broader product assortment. New home pages for each department showcase the "hottest" merchandise and recommend complementary products. This streamlined approach to merchandise presentation mirrors Target's store approach and tries to offer online guests a more realistic shopping experience, the company said. The redesigned Web site provides online access to nearly 15,000 items in Target's key merchandise categories: apparel, gifts and toys, and home decor. The site emphasizes gift-giving, with gift cards and registries prominently featured. Through a new "gift search" feature, guests can request gift ideas based on price, occasion or interest.
