(July 10, 2001) -- Cingular Wireless named Omnicom Group's Targetbase, Irving, Texas, as its direct-marketing agency of record after a review, according to a spokewoman at Cingular. Spending was not disclosed.

Targetbase won the business after a review that included Omnicom sibling Rapp Collins Worldwide, Dallas and New York; DMW Worldwide, Wayne, Pa.; and two undisclosed shops. Wanamaker Associates, Atlanta, conducted the search.

Executives at Targetbase declined to comment.

Omnicom's BBDO, New York, and BBDO South, Atlanta, handle general advertising for Cingular, which in May tapped Ant Farm Interactive, Atlanta, to handle online customer relationship management. -- Cara Beardi
