TBWA/CHIAT/DAY FILLS VACANT CREATIVE DIRECTOR POST

(March 28, 2001) -- Rob Schwartz, worldwide creative director on TBWA/Chiat/Day's Nissan account, has been promoted to executive creative director of the Omnicom Group's Playa del Rey, Calif. office. In his role, Mr. Schwartz, 35, will head the creative department in the shop, which also handles Apple Computers. He replaces Gary Topolewski, who left last week to return to the Detroit area to join Doner, Southfield, Mich., as one of five creative directors.

Mr. Topolewski was originally touted as heir apparent to Lee Clow, who serves as chairman and worldwide creative director for TBWA Worldwide. However, within a few months of Mr. Topolewski's arrival in California, Chuck McBride, who heads Levi Strauss & Co.'s Levi's account in the San Francisco office, was named creative director of the TBWA/Chiat/Day's North American offices, better positioning him as Mr. Clow's successor. -- Alice Z.
