A group of Japanese companies and U.S. cable TV operator Tele-Communications International are banding together to beam Japanese TV programs across Asia. JET TV, a new 24-hour entertainment channel, will carry popular Japanese programs in four languages: Japanese, English, Chinese and Thai. The service will cover Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand and China. The new venture will be headquartered in Singapore. The service begins in January 1997.
