Telcos make last stand on regulation bill

Telecommunications industry players are backing a flurry of print and TV ads appearing the week of July 31 surrounding last-minute lobbying for the telecom reform bill slated to go to the House Committee on Rules Monday. Opposing the bill are the Competitive Long Distance Coalition and members AT&T, MCI, Sprint and CompTel; the Coalition for Communications Reform, comprised of all local telephone companies, most cable TV companies and major newspapers, supports the bill.
