Teletubbies eye Latin America

Published on .

Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po are on the move again, as the Teletubbies get ready to enter Latin America next year. Itsy Bitsy Entertainment Co., New York, and Ragdoll Productions (UK) Ltd. have signed a licensing agreement with Discovery Kids Latin America. The preschool children's series will launch early in 1999 in Spanish-speaking Latin America via the Discovery Kids cable and satellite network. Discovery plans to follow shortly with a Portuguese version in Brazil. Discovery will dub "Teletubbies" into Spanish and produce new segments in Latin America featuring children from various countries. "Teletubbies" debuted in the U.S. last April on the Public Broadcasting Service.
