Telus appoints two Calgary agencies

EDMONTON -- Telus Corp. of Edmonton, Alberta, a private phone company, has awarded an estimated $16m of its total $23m ad account to two Calgary agencies in one of the country's largest agency assignments of the year.

The Calgary office of Ogilvy & Mather won the consumer business portfolio, worth an estimated $7m, while the media buying assignment, valued at about $9m went to Baron Communications of Calgary.

The business to business portfolio, valued at about $7m, is to be awarded before the end of the month, with a shortlist of agencies in Edmonton, Vancouver and Toronto.Telus is paring down its use of ad agencies from a current number of 12 down to three.
