WPP has so far outbid Havas Advertising in the quest for Tempus and its CIA Medianetwork.
Mr. Sorrell, WPP group chief executive, promised Mr. Ingram a post as co-chair of a unit that would combine MindShare, the Media Edge and CIA. Besides Mr. Ingram's refusal, the executive predicted large-scale resignations at Tempus should WPP buy it.
Havas extended its offer for Tempus and is expected to come back soon with another bid.
