(Sept. 3, 2001) -- Tempus Group Chairman-CEO Chris Ingram will not accept Martin Sorrell's offer of a position within WPP Group, said an executive close to Tempus.

WPP has so far outbid Havas Advertising in the quest for Tempus and its CIA Medianetwork.

Mr. Sorrell, WPP group chief executive, promised Mr. Ingram a post as co-chair of a unit that would combine MindShare, the Media Edge and CIA. Besides Mr. Ingram's refusal, the executive predicted large-scale resignations at Tempus should WPP buy it.

Havas extended its offer for Tempus and is expected to come back soon with another bid.
