TheStreet.com files for an IPO

Online investment and financial news site TheStreet.com has filed a registration statement with the Securities & Exchange Commission for an initial public offering of common stock. The number of shares to be sold and the price of those shares were undisclosed. Goldman, Sachs & Co., Hambrecht & Quist and Thomas Weisel Partners are the offering's underwriters. The announcement follows news that The New York Times Co. bought a stake in TheStreet.com for $15 million. Analysts said the IPO could raise as much as $75 million for TheStreet.com.
