Thomson financial forms joint venture with High Tech Editores

Published on .

NEW YORK--Thomson Financial Services, a U.S. financial publishing group, has formed a joint venture with a Mexican partner to create a Spanish-language information company.

Thomson's American Banker Bond Buyer Unit has joined forces with High Tech Editores, a leading technology publishing company in Mexico City, to create Infobanca. Infobanca's target market is banking and financial services executives in Latin America. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The joint venture's first project is Banca Latina, a pan-Latin American banking and finance technology magazine, scheduled to be launched in June. A successor publication to High Tech Editores' Banca Electronica magazine, which has been limited to Mexican banking technology, the new title will cover the business and issues of banking and finance throughout the region.

It will also include translations of stories from American Banker titles such as the American Banker daily newspaper and Future Banker and Financial Services Marketing magazines. Infobanca will also produce Expo Tecnobanca, a financial service technology tradeshow and conference, in Mexico City this June.
