Thrifty Car Rental, Tulsa, Okla., starts a co-promotional campaign with Viacom's Blockbuster Video chain Aug. 30 on national network and cable TV. The "Get the Show on the Road" deal offers a free movie rental or frequent-flyer miles for every Thrifty car rental from Sept. 1 through Dec. 15. National and local radio and newspaper ads support, as does direct mail to more than 600,000 households. Zipatoni Co., St. Louis, developed the creative. Separately, Thrifty is expected this week to cut from six to four the number of agency finalists competing for its $13 million national account. Incumbent Ackerman McQueen, Tulsa, isn't participating.
