Tiger Electronics sends out Lightning Mail

Published on .

Hasbro's Tiger Electronics is introducing Lightning Mail, a small portable device that allows users to send text-based messages to--and receive them from--any e-mail address in the world by plugging into a phone jack and accessing a local number. NetZero, a free Internet service provider, is supplying Lightning Mail's e-mail functions. Because Lightning Mail's target audience includes adults as well as children, NetZero has developed a customized version of its service that excludes on-screen advertising.
