(July 3, 2001) -- Retailer and apparel manufacturer Timberland Co., Stratham, N.H., has named four finalists in the review for its advertising account.

The finalists are Havas Advertising's Black Rocket Euro RSCG, San Francisco; Interpublic Group of Cos.' Carmichael Lynch, Minneapolis; Publicis Groupe's Fallon and WPP Group's J. Walter Thompson, both New York.

Agencies will be given assignments over the summer, according to consultant Select Resources International, West Hollywood, Calif., with a decision anticipated in mid-August.

The Martin Agency, Richmond, Va., was the incumbent. Media is expected to remain at Allscope Media, New York. Taylor Nelson Sofres' CMR put Timberland's spending at $12.8 million in 2000. -- Alice Z. Cuneo
