Times Mirror Tuesday reported 1996 second-quarter income from continuing operations of $46 million, an increase of 57.6% over last year's second quarter. Second-quarter revenues were $837.3 million, down from $843.1 million in the 1995 second quarter. The company said operating profit in the newspaper group was up 43.1% to $76 million. The consumer media segment reported an operating loss of $1.9 million compared to an operating loss of $2.7 million in 1995.
