Times Mirror and Tribune expand partnership

Published on .

Times Mirror Co., Tribune Co. and Washington Post Co. have formed a partnership to expand their Internet classified advertising. Contributions from each were undisclosed, although a spokesman said Tribune will invest at least $20 million. The first product will be cars.com, to be launched in January in eight cities with listings from the 10 total affiliate newspapers as well as automotive news and information. Cars.com has already signed a two-year distribution deal with America Online, and is also seeking affiliate partners such as publishers with access to large databases of auto inventories.
