Tobacco ad rules near

Published on .

Presidential press secretary Mike McCurry said Thursday that an announcement of new Food & Drug Administration regulations on tobacco marketing could come down at 1:30 p.m. (ET) Friday. He also said reports that President Clinton would issue an executive order on tobacco were erroneous. The Freedom to Advertise Coalition, which includes major advertising and media groups, issued a news release calling the FDA restrictions "fatally flawed" and unconstitutional.
