Marketers in the top 10 ad categories boosted spending in basic cable TV an average of 23.1% last year, according to the Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau. The figures are based on a CAB analysis of data from Competitive Media Reporting. The categories posting the largest gains were telecommunications, up 81%; computers and software, up 72.3%; and financial, up 41.5%.
