TOSHIBA SPONSORS SOCCER WORLD CUP

Published on .

(June 11, 2001) TOKYO -- Toshiba Corp. has become an official sponsor of the 2002 FIFA World Cup held in Korea and Japan and the subsequent soccer World Cup to be held in Germany in 2006.

Toshiba will support the event as "Official IT Partner," a position that will allow the company to showcase its leading-edge technologies and reinforce its brand image as a provider of information technology solutions.

Under its sponsorship agreement, Toshiba will support the event with IT-related products, including PCs and PC servers, and by consulting on modification of the official FIFA World Cup Web site. Score updates during game broadcasts will feature the Toshiba logo, and "powered by Toshiba" will appear on the home page of the official Web site, which will also carry a link to Toshiba's site.

Toshiba will also have advertising boards in prominent positions at all FIFA World Cup stadiums. -- Mike Ueda
