Mojopartners will continue to handle Toyota's base rate negotiations through its buying arm, True North Media, says Matthew Callachor, Toyota's general manager. "The Toyota account has always operated autonomously within Mojo and this is really formalizing an arrangement we have had for some years," he says. "The account is not 'moving out' but 'separating out' and from a communications point of view it gives us a more direct line."
Nicholas Davie, Mojopartners managing director, says that Toyota and Hill want to be perceived in the marketplace as an independent buying unit "and we are facilitating that perception".
Mojo will continue to handle Toyota Corolla and Starlet small car brands and retail campaigns. Toyota's other rostered agencies, Saatchi & Saatchi and Sleeman Whitaker Heckendorf & Potter, are not affected.
