Spots Are Aimed at Domestic and Overseas Travelers

WASHINGTON ( -- The travel industry is going on the air with its own projected $20 million ad campaign urging Americans to travel and foreigners to visit.

Two ads produced for the Travel Industry Association of America, one for abroad and another here, suggest travel is the way to show the world that America is back to normal.

The spots feature footage of President Bush and are produced by Interpublic Group of Cos.' McCann Erickson Worldwide.

"Take your families and enjoy life the way we want it enjoyed," says the spot to be aired in the U.S.

In that commercial, President Bush says "live your lives, do your business around the country."

The acssociation said the ads will air starting Wednesday for four weeks in the U.S. and for five weeks overseas.

The group said $12.4 million has been raised for the effort, but it hopes to spend $20 million.
