Travel site Viajo.com expands in three Latam markets

MIAMI--Latin American travel site Viajo.com has entered three new countries: Brazil, Argentina and Chile. Viajo.com will provide travel information and products through its own brick and mortar travel agencies or through allies such as Business Travelers Group in Brazil, Cityservice in Argentina and Turismo Tajamar in Chile.

Viajo.com also announced strategic partnerships with Mexico-based general interest portal To2.com and sports portal SportsYA!.

Through its agreement with To2.com, Viajo.com will provide travel information and products to its more than 250,000 registered users. To2.com claims more than three million page views per day. SportsYA! users will be able to get travel information and services to attend sporting events such as the Olympic Games and the World Cup under a co-branding agreement with Viajo.com.

Viajo.com also announced it has obtained $31 million in capital investments from GP Investimentos, Chase Capital Partners, Thomas H. Lee Putnam Internet Partners, Morgan Stanley, GE Capital, and SLI Investments. The fresh capital will be used for the site to expand its services to the U.S. and Spain.
