Tribune, Meredith in TV deal

Published on .

Tribune Co., Chicago, is selling its only CBS affiliated TV station, WGNX-TV, Atlanta, in the nation's No. 10 TV market, to Meredith Corp., Des Moines, Iowa, and will get Fox affiliate KCPQ-TV, Seattle, in the nation's No. 12 TV market. Tribune already owns Seattle WB affiliate KTZZ-TV and said it will "explore options" for its future ownership. Meredith is acquiring KCPQ from Kelly Broadcasting and will transfer it to Tribune. It said WGNX will extend Meredith's U.S. household reach to 9.4% of U.S. TV households and make it the largest owner of CBS TV stations in terms of household reach other than CBS itself.
