Tribune puts $2 million in Mercury Mail

The Tribune Company invested $2 million for a minority stake in Mercury Mail, a Denver-based company that uses e-mail to deliver news, weather, stocks, sports and entertainment information. The company edits news feeds and syndicated content into concise stories sent to customers who have subscribed to particular content areas. Tribune has invested in other new media companies including America Online, Excite, Peapod, CheckFree and iVillage.
