TRUE NORTH CANCELS SHAREHOLDERS MEETING, READIES FOR VOTE ON IPG DEAL

(April 4, 2001) -- True North Communications announced today that it canceled its annual shareholders meeting, originally scheduled for May 16, as a result of its deal with Interpublic Group of Cos. A company statement said True North will schedule a meeting for shareholders to vote on the $2.1 billion deal after it secures all the necessary regulatory and government approvals. The deal, announced March 19, is expected to close this summer. -- Mercedes Cardona
