ISTANBUL--Mynet, the first Turkish-language portal, has opened. The portal starts with an initial capacity to serve one million Internet users, according to Ahu Sarialioglu, a spokeswomanfor the Istanbul-based company.

One of Mynet's first services will be free e-mail. Ms. Sarialioglu says "there are many portals abroad giving the same service, but Mynet's e-mail service will be in Turkish. We believe this will be a great advantage for those who do not speak a second language."

Ms. Sarialioglu also points out that, except for several ISPs, there is no other organization in Turkey that provides an e-mail service.

Mynet launches with a print campaign prepared by local agency Ajans Mek, Istanbul. The campaign will appear in monthly business and specialty magazines and some newsweeklies.
