First TV ads for cat treats

Published on .

Ralston-Purina tonight breaks what it says is the first-ever TV advertising for cat treats. The spot, from Euro RSCG Tatham, Chicago, supports Whisker Lickin's and features a man going to ridiculous lengths to coax his cat from under a couch before discovering the Purina treat does the trick. Spending wasn't disclosed; Ralston spent about $100 million last year on total pet food advertising.
