TV net ratings surge

Published on .

The Big 3 broadcast networks showed an early season surge in prime-time ratings, delivering a combined 44 Nielsen rating for week 6 of the 1995-96 season. That's a 3.8% increase over the 42.5 gross rating the nets posted for the same week last season and the first weekly gain the broadcast nets have had this season over last. The rise was due almost entirely to World Series coverage on ABC and NBC; there was no coverage last year because of the baseball players' strike.
