TV NETWORKS AGREE TO PSAs FOLLOWING SCHOOL SHOOTING

The Ad Council says that in the wake of the school shooting in Santee, Calif., it won commitments from major TV networks to add to their public service rotation a spot for the National Crime Prevention Council urging students to tell school officials about suspicious gun talk.

"Sometimes it is important to keep quiet, but if you keep quiet about a kid who talks about hurting someone with a gun, some kids could be quiet forever," says the ad, which pictures children standing at a funeral. "Don't wait until it is too late."

The spot was prepared by Publicis Groupe's Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising, New York, and was offered in both 30- and 20-second formats.
