LONDON - U.K. supermarket giant Tesco is furthering its Asian expansion, announcing that it plans to open its first Taiwan store in December in the Taimali Shopping Centre in Nankan.
The 10,000-square-meter store will be located in an existing store purchased from Makro Asia Management. Up to 400 jobs will be created with 150 existing Makro employees retained.
Tesco now has 24 stores in Thailand and will have seven stores in South Korea by the end of the year. It is exploring possible sites in China and Malaysia.
