U.S. Sunrider gallops into India

Published on .

MUMBAI--U.S.-based $750 million Sunrider International has plans to set up a 100%-owned subsidiary in India to manufacture and market its range of health foods and personal care brands here.

Sunrider India plans to sell its products through direct marketing and has applied to the Foreign Investment Promotion Board, says President Oi Lin Chen, though he refuses to divulge at this stage which brands are in the pipeline.

"We have already invested $100,000 in India and hope to invest a further $10 million for a manufacturing facility in the country within a few months," says Mr. Chen.

Sunrider will first import the products from its facility in the U.S.
