Universal McCann Director Returns to Ireland

Published on .

Muirne Laffan, director of worldwide clients at Universal McCann, New York, is leaving the agency at the beginning of April to return to her native Ireland. Laffan is taking up the post of general manager of CEL, the commercial enterprises unit of RTE, Ireland's national TV network.

CEL, or Commercial Enterprises Ltd., is comprised of RTE's non-broadcast media properties, including digital, publications and foreign program sales. Laffan will be responsible for revenue generation, paid sales and all other aspects of the division. Laffan is originally from Dublin, but she went straight from college to John Ayling & Associates in the U.K., where she worked in media for three years. From there, she joined McCann in New York in 1991 as international media manager.
