UNIVERSAL MCCANN WINS INDIAN CLOTHING MEDIA BIZ

DELHI -- Clothing marketer Madura Garments has awarded to Universal McCann, Delhi, its consolidated media planning and buying account.

The media arm of Interpublic Group of Cos.-owned McCann-Erickson WorldGroup snatched the business in a closely contested pitch against MindShare, Bombay, and incumbent Mudra Communications, based in Delhi, Bombay and Ahmedabad.

The brief entails Universal handling media activities for all the various brands under the Madura label.

Mudra DDB handles the creative business for Madura apparel brands Peter England and Byford. Previously, the agency helped launch Van Heusen in this market. -- From our India correspondent
