Univision upfront climbs 18%

Univision Communications, Los Angeles, posted an 18% increase in upfront sales to $501 million for the upcoming 2000-2001 broadcast season. The largest U.S. Spanish-language TV broadcast company signed 92 advertisers for this period, as opposed to 79 last season. Univision also said revenue from the beverage category rose 67%; packaged foods, up 56%; movies/entertainment, up 49%; retail, up 35%; personal care, up 32%; and automotive and fast-food, each up 20%.
