USA Networks makes growth plans

USA Networks plans to announce the launch of a new cable network and plans for a partnership with a large media company involving local stations sometime within the next 60 to 90 days, Chairman-CEO Barry Diller said today at the PaineWebber Media Conference. Mr. Diller said the new network will be a genuine start-up and take 18 months to get up and running. Regarding plans for new local stations, Mr. Diller said USA Networks next year plans to launch three stations in Boston, New York and possibly Los Angeles.
