Valassis sales higher

Published on .

Valassis Communications, Livonia, Mich., a marketer of free standing inserts, said revenues for 1995 were $162.8 million, up 10% from 1994, but write-downs led to a $9.3 million net loss, compared to $1.3 million in earnings a year earlier. Before the write-downs, earnings were $3.2 million.

The write-downs were for discontinuation of the company's in-store services and an accounting write-down of intangible assets of its Canadian operations. Valassis said FSI sales were up 7.5% for the year, to $480.7 million.
