Valentine poll shows disappointing numbers

Published on .

Only 10% of Web users surveyed said they plan to purchase Valentine's Day gifts over the Internet this year, according to a poll conducted by NPD Online Research. Of the 2,500 Web users surveyed, more than 80% said they planned to purchase gifts for the holiday, but they will not be turning to the Web in droves to do so. While 93% said they will shop in a retail or department store, only 8% will use the telephone, 6% will use mail order and 4% will use another means.
